Corporate social responsibility

People and communities

We are committed to ensuring our workforce is focussed, happy and healthy through flexible working opportunities and encouraging development of knowledge and skills throughout their career with us.

We are actively involved in supporting and developing people and communities in Worcestershire. Working with us helps to foster a sense of place, and a connection with the landscape and history of local communities past and present.

We help researchers, volunteers and those participating in our events and activities to gain new skills in research, ICT and much more, as well as offering valuable opportunities to engage with staff and other researchers. Our commitment to investing in people is clearly shown though our multiple volunteer opportunities, work placements for young people and graduate traineeships.

Being concerned with the past and how it impacts on our future, we’re all about sustainability. We work hard to minimise any negative impact our business might have on the community and environment. We endeavour to make decisions that benefit Worcestershire’s communities, taking into account the impact on the local and global environment. We demonstrate that commitment by:

  • Continuously improving our environmental, social and economic performance to maximise our positive effects on the environment and society.
  • Actively encouraging responsible environmental, social and economic performance by our suppliers and contractors.
  • Raising awareness of and encouraging action for sustainability amongs staff and the general public.
  • Promoting sustainable development when working with schools, colleges and other organisations.
