Book sale at The Hive – 19th December

    • 15th December 2014

On 19th December, between 1pm and 4pm, Worcestershire Archive and Archaeology Service are offering those interested in the history of the County the opportunity to purchase stock that is no longer part of the local studies and archaeology reference collection.  We are keen that our customers and local people have the opportunity to purchase items, and so are holding a book sale in The Studio at The Hive.

The majority of the books are duplicates, from when we merged the 3 libraries of the Record Office, History Centre and Archaeology Service in 2012, or books that do not fit our collecting policy and relate to areas outside Worcestershire.  These books have been stored in our secure storage rooms at The Hive since we moved, and are taking up space that we now need.  All the books for sale are published sources from the library, no archives are being offered for sale.

Monies raised from the sale will be fed directly back to Worcestershire Archive and Archaeology Service, so those buying books will be helping to support us and protect Worcestershire’s heritage.   The income will:

  • Help us to bring history to life through supporting workshops, events and activities for all ages
  • Allow us to conserve more documents so they can be valued and enjoyed by future generations
  • Make our collections more accessible so that everyone can explore their past and the story of where they live.
